Founded in 2020 in response to an industry need for independent, experienced experts, our collective of highly experienced associates can provide you with guidance, governance and advice on your railway infrastructure project.

The Van Toledo Group, which works on sustainable transport projects and provides an independent rail transport advisory service was put together in 2020 by founder and director, Robb Van Toledo, when he recognised a lack of railway consulting services within the industry.
The team of multi-disciplinary experts from within the fields of civil engineering, railway infrastructure specialists, commercial and financial professionals bring together an extraordinary wealth of experience from around the globe with projects within the London Underground and elevated railway system in Bangkok amongst other high profile Australian undertakings on their CVs.
With expertise in every aspect of strategic rail transport development, from concept to maintenance and renewals, the necessary resources and areas of expertise will be called upon from the team to deliver the very best rail transport program management.
Any form of integrated transport planning needs to begin with a clear concept and a strategy that outlines each stage of the process. Along with initial concept development for your railway, a rail feasibility study and business case development are crucial in establishing viability and consequently acquiring funding to get your project off the ground. At Van Toledo we will collaborate with you on your concept development and offer our analysis of feasibility studies to guide you towards your optimal choice. And our cutting-edge 3D visualisation technologies will animate your plans bringing an even clearer picture of how your development may look.
Operational modelling, which covers issues such as timetables, service levels, routes and projections on income, that give further viability to the project are also covered within our remit of our railway project planning and consultancy service. After these two stages of planning have been successfully managed the main phase of construction can be considered and the experience of our rail and civil engineers will guide you towards the optimal construction strategy, developing plans that will highlight a logical, economical and expeditious approach to construction.

Through our close association with Lunarr Advisory, Rohan Schuppan provides a range of operational modelling and associated advisory services to the Van Toledo Group. Rohan has over 25 years of experience in the rail industry and is an operations specialist with international experience in rail network planning, service plan design, modelling and analytics (including predictions of operational performance, train passenger loads, network reliability and availability).
Rohan provides an in-depth knowledge of railway service plans, operations and systems which is often particularly beneficial during the development phase of rail projects, for example during the business case phase or when the project technical requirements are being developed prior to procurement.
